A Midwife - 'with woman'

My name is Lois Wattis and I am registered with the Queensland Nursing Council as a Comprehensive Registered Nurse/Midwife (RN/RM). I am an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and a member and Fellow of the Australian College of Midwives (FACM.

I offer holistic, woman-centred care through pregnancy, birth and early parenting. I provide a professional in-home service to women and their partners as they make their transition to parenthood, from "birthjourney to babymoon".

I support and nurture parents' intuitive knowledge about their baby, offering practical guidance as parenting skills develop, facilitating breastfeeding, and assisting a smooth transition to family life. I am committed to offering women the choice of personalised care which is focused on their individual needs and family structure.

As a mother and grandmother, I provide parents with experienced sensitive support and understanding. My independent practice is based on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland, Australia.

Your Birthjourney

I provide expert advice and education on all aspects of pregnancy and birth. This may include pre-pregnancy planning or personalised education to prepare for the birth of the baby, including planning a vaginal birth after caesarean (VBAC). Unfortunately I am unable to offer homebirth midwifery services due to my work commitments in a specialist Lactation Consultant role.

Babymoon Home Visits

The "Babymoon" refers to the early weeks following baby's birth, when new parents focus on their transition to family life. Babymoon home visits nurture both mother and baby by enhancing breastfeeding skill development, problem solving, as well as supporting confident mothercrafting. The cost of a home consultation starts at $100 and private health fund rebates may apply. A referral from a medical practitioner is not required.
